Microsoft is expected to release its second, cheaper next-gen Xbox console this month, and it looks like it's certainly going to be named Xbox Series S. The Verge got pictures of Microsoft's latest next-gen Xbox controller in white, complete with packaging that references the Xbox Series S. Twitter user Zak S was able to buy the controller today, and we've confirmed it's real.
Today the new controller has been sold on a resale site and the packaging side states that the controller fits for both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. Microsoft has not yet officially released an Xbox Series S, nor has a white Xbox Series X controller even been confirmed by the company.
Also appearing online last month was a mystery white Xbox Series X controller, complete with the latest D-pad, textured buttons and a new sharing button. The latest leak coincides with the previous controller leak and retail packaging indicates that both can soon appear in stores.
The Xbox Series S is likely to be the second cheaper Xbox next-gen, codenamed Lockhart, for Microsoft. A paper from Microsoft, leaked back in June, shed some more light on the company's plans for two next-gen consoles. Microsoft's Xbox Series X devkit, codenamed "Dante," allows game developers to run a special Lockhart mode with a performance level that Microsoft needs to reach.
