Ashes of Rishi Kapoor submerged in Mumbai's Banganga tank; prayer meeting held at his home




MUMBAI: Here on Sunday, the ashes of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor were submerged in Banganga tank, his elder brother Randhir Kapoor said.

Rishi Kapoor died on April 30 at H N Reliance hospital in south Mumbai at the age of 67, after a two-year struggle with leukaemia.

Randhir Kapoor said there was a prayer meeting Saturday for the star.

"We met yesterday in prayer. Today we plunged his ashes into Banganga because we haven't been granted permission from the authorities to go to Haridwar," Randhir Kapoor told PTI.

The actor's daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who was unable to attend the funeral as she was traveling by road from Delhi, was present at the prayer meeting, according to family sources.


"There were not many people, just five-six members of the family," said the insider.

Rishi Kapoor had transferred to India last September, after nearly a year of cancer care in the US.
