Temple priest Amritsar repeatedly raped two women in prison, arrested after police raid

Amritsar police have arrested a priest of the temple and his accomplice on charges of keeping and repeatedly raping two women in illegal confinement.

The accused prime minister, identified as Mahant Girdhari Nath, was employed as the head priest at Guru Gyan Nath Asshram Valmiki Tirath in Ramtirth Complex under the Amritsar Lopoke police station, police officials.

The two victims reported that they were illegally confined and repeatedly raped by the Mahant and his men in a letter to the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes member Tarsem Singh. "Based on a complaint lodged by Tarsem Singh Sayaka, we raided the complex and arrested two defendants. Those on the run will be arrested as soon as police teams raid their possible hideouts," DSP Atari Guru Pratap Singh stated.
