White House Likely To Make A Next Week Announcement to the WHO:

Washington: US President Donald Trump said the White House is likely to make an announcement next week in relation to the World Health Organization (WHO).

"We'll be making an announcement shortly, hopefully, on the World Health Organization. Possibly sometime next week," Trump said was quoted by CNN as saying.

Trump's statement comes against the backdrop of the U.S. President's accusations accusing the health organization for not moving quickly to curb the deadly contagion. Trump administration had stopped funding to the WHO in April saying there would be a study going on.

Trump had said the study would cover "the role of the WHO in seriously mismanaging and concealing coronavirus spread."

He has also criticized the role of previous US regimes in providing WHO with a larger sum than China.

Trump has also lambasted WHO leader Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on many occasions since the start of the pandemic over his involvement in the COVID-19 response of world organizations.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus has reached 300,000, mark with more than 4.42 million cases of infections.

As per US-based tracker, some 1.58 million people were also cured of the illness.

As of 4 am Friday, the number of people worldwide infected is 4,426,937 with at least 301,370 deaths reported.

The US has the world's highest count of incidents, 1,413,012, including 85,581 deaths.
