There were claims on Sunday that Karan Johar 's manager had received a summons from Mumbai police in connection with the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. It has now been reported, however, that it is not Karan 's manager but Dharma Productions CEO, Apoorva Mehta, who was summoned by the Mumbai police, reports IANS. The Johar's manager's comment, Reshma Shetty, was reported earlier.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt will also record his statement in the next few days with the Mumbai Police, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Sunday.
"Mahesh Bhatt will take a day or two to record his comment," Deshmukh told reporters.
Police are investigating claims that in addition to psychiatric depression, professional competition pushed the actor to suicide.
"It also sent summons to actress Kangana Ranaut, asking her to record her response," said the minister.
Kangana had hit out at nepotism and cartels in Bollywood after Sushant 's death inside his Mumbai apartment last month, saying he was his victim. Kangana is reportedly in Manali according to police.
Deshmukh said police have reported 37 people's statements so far.
They include director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, chairman Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films (YRF) and chairman Rhea Chakraborty.
In movies like "Shuddh Desi Romance," "Raabta," "Kedarnath" and "Sonchiriya," Sushant starred. But his most popular role came in the biopic- "MS Dhoni: The True Story" as cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. His posthumous release Dil Bechara is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar today.
