Union Minister Paswan told in a virtual media briefing about the measures the government has taken to provide the states with additional food grains. He reiterated the pledge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that poor and needy people in the country do not go hungry and that they are given free ration during the rainy and upcoming festival seasons in the midst of the current COVID-19.
The Minister said a total of 200 Lakh Metric tons of grain and nine lakh 78,000 Metric tons of Chana would be distributed among beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act in the period of the next five months. He told that both PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana phases would together incur a total expenditure of one lakh of 50,000 crore rupees.
Union Minister Paswan told that he also wrote letters to the Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories and asked them to make the necessary arrangements for the One Country, One Ration Card Scheme to be enforced.
