Watch: Elephant helps the beef to climb out of Assam's flooded river

An elephant was caught in a video that is widely shared on the internet helping his calf cross a flooded river as he tried to climb up to the side of the river.

The incident, said to be heartwarming by many on social media, was reported in the Udalguri district of Assam, which is 20 km north of the Bhutan border.

Throughout the video, as the two younger elephants struggle to climb onto the hill, the elephant can be seen attempting to raise the calf with its truck.

When one of the calves succeeds in getting out of the water, the other attempts to struggle and is assisted by the adult elephant who tries to lift it out of the water using his trunk.
