Social distancing: Chinese students start school wearing special headgear

Ever-time Chinese students returned to school Monday, months after a novel coronavirus outbreak hit the region. Although life is slowly returning to the normal routine, there is still followed social distancing to control the spread of the novel virus in China.
In the midst of this situation, Hangzhou schoolchildren were seen wearing special hats to practice social distancing in the classroom.

Several pictures of first grade students sporting colorful headgear with horizontal feathers have been posted on social media.

Eileen Chengyin Chow, a Twitter user, posted images from the classroom with the caption, "First graders back to school in Hangzhou, with socially distant headgear."

He also shared in the tweet that similar hats had been worn in China during the Song dynasty to discourage officials from talking and plotting at court. "The long horizontal plumes on the toppers of the Song dynasty were meant to prevent officials from coordinating sotto voice with each other when they were in court. So social distancing was probably their original purpose," she wrote.

The tweet had received more than 7k likes and 3.8k retweets at the time of filing this edition. Netizens exploded with praise on the comments section and said they loved the innovative concept. "This is very cute and fascinating," commented a customer. "Those best little ones," wrote another boy.

The novel coronavirus was first identified in December 2019, in Wuhan, China. The deadly virus has caused havoc across the globe and infected more than 2.9 million people. There have been more than 27,000 Covid-19 cases reported in India so far.
