Coronavirus Live Updates: The lockout of coronavirus has been extended for a third time, and will run until May 17 from today. The government has adopted a new set of rules and relaxations that will require the country to obey before the lockdown ends. Depending on the extent of the coronavirus situation in the regions, the Center has divided districts throughout the country into 3 groups – Red Zone, Orange Zone, and Green Zone. In India, meanwhile, the number of cases of coronavirus has exceeded 40,000, and more than 1,300 people have already died.

The overall number of cases of coronavirus in the world has reached 3.5 crore while the death toll has reached 2.4 lakh with the most affected nation being the USA. Economic activity partly restarts; liqueur shops see long queues

In addition to groceries and other important products, many economic activities resumed across metro cities on Monday. Across metro cities like Delhi and Bengaluru more early morning traffic was observed and queues could also be seen outside liquor shops. Many offices have opened, but with severe restrictions.

The prolonged lockdown is reaching the third phase from Monday and according to the latest set of guidelines released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), substantial relief will occur across the country except for the hotspots or confinement zones. The Center split the country into three zones and the relaxations were made in the areas according to the frequency of coronavirus.

The Union Health Ministry had split the country into Red, Orange and Green Zones prior to the lockdown extension. All three distinct areas will undergo relaxation to varying degrees and will continue until May 17.
