Reverse engineering: Man held for hand sanitizing liquor


Liquor shops in Madhya Pradesh are closed because of the ongoing lockdown
According to police, the accused produced liquor from a sanitizer containing 72% alcohol.

RAISEN (MP): One man was arrested in Madhya Pradesh district Raisen on Saturday for allegedly producing liquor from liquid sanitizer.


  • The key constituent of hand sanitizers is alcohol.
  • The accused was identified as Indal Singh Rajput, a Boriya Jagir village resident within the limits of Sultanpur police station, police said.
  • The state's liquor shops are closed because of the lockout.
  • Many distilleries in the state were granted permission to manufacture sanitizers that are in high demand due to coronavirus outbreak.
  • Rajput made liquor from a sanitizer that contained 72 per cent alcohol, according to police.
  • It was a special situation, policing superintendent Monika Shukla said.
  • Rajput, she said, had been booked under the Excise Act.
