Mumbai: The actors Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana confirmed on Thursday after much speculation that their upcoming film 'Gulabo Sitabo' will be released directly on an OTT streaming platform instead of the theatres. The much anticipated film had been scheduled to release earlier this year. The coronavirus pandemic however contributed to the nation's full lockdown.
'Gulabo Sitabo' will now be released on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, directed by Shoojit Sircar.
While sharing information about the release of the film, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "Ek izzatdaar janaab aur uske anokhe kirayedar ki kahaani. Only on Amazon Prime, 'Gulabo Sitabo' premieres June 12" and Ayushmann said, "Advance mein aapko book kar rahe hai."
The quirky dramedy of Shoojit Sircar is the story of two slimy scheming foxes in a one-size-fits-all game, each attracting other members to their clan and each with its own agenda.
'Gulabo Sitabo' is a special film, for both Big B and Ayushmann.
I've been excited about my role since Shoojit showed me the look of that character. It took me nearly three hours each day with his different look to get into character. I had a great time with my very talented co-star Ayushmann Khurrana. This family entertainer has the ability to transcend regional boundaries and we are delighted to bring 'Gulabo Sitabo' to the world's audiences.
After 2012 Ayushmann rejoins his mentor Shoojit Sircar. In 'Vicky Donor,' Shoojit Sircar had directed him.
"Whatever I am today is because of him and I'm glad he made me part of his vision again. 'Gulabo Sitabo' also sees me sharing screen space for the first time with Mr Amitabh Bachchan and it's a huge moment, it's a dream come true for me," said Ayushmann.
