With the Bollywood movie, Firangi (2017), Kapil Sharma went into the production business. Kapil Sharma, alongside Ishita Dutta, also played the lead character in Firangi. In 2018 Kapil Sharma made his debut with Son of Manjeet Singh as a producer in the Punjabi industry. Kapil Sharma took to his handle on social media to share the news with his followers.

Kapil Sharma co-produced Son of Manjeet Singh along with Sumeet Singh. The movie is directed by Vikram Grover. The lead cast of the movie includes  Gurpreet Ghuggi, Japji Khaira, and Karamjit Anmol. The plot of the film revolves around an undefined relationship between father and son of love and dreams that goes beyond all boundaries of struggles to meet the demand of the generation gap. 

On October 18, 2018, the movie hit the theaters and did quite well at the Punjabi box office.
A source close to the actor on the topic has reportedly revealed that Kapil really needed this break in order to introspect his life and career. The breakup with his co-stars at The Kapil Sharma Show and Firangi 's loss really left him frustrated. While he assumed that launching Family Time with Kapil Sharma would ease his problems, it only worsened things.

Added to that, he was further distracted by the entire fiasco with the journalist and the Simoes sisters. That was too hard for him to manage. But now, Kapil is rejuvenated and raring to get back to entertaining his fans after spending a decent amount of time traveling with his family, he said.
