Suniel Shetty Hailed After Feat In 1996 Goes Viral Event, Athiya Says, 'didn't know'

Words such as 'stranded' and 'rescue' are being encountered amid the COVID-19 pandemic. If it's contributing to the various relief organizations or supporting the daily wage staff and the poor, the celebrities' contributions have become a talking point. Suniel Shetty did that too, about 25 years ago, but the scale of the gesture was more massive.

Suniel Shetty helped rescue 128 sex workers from Kamathipura in Mumbai, and in 1996 helped them to move to Nepal. Recently a story was released by a video website, after which the video began to do the rounds on Twitter at the actor's fan clubs.

A woman is heard in the video saying that after police cordoned off the area on February 5, 1996 and rescued the sex workers, those from Nepal were in limbo because Nepal 's government refused to accept them for not having birth certificates or citizenship cards. The woman revealed that Suniel had arranged the sex workers' flight tickets to help them travel to Nepal.

Hate Story 2 actor Jay Bhanushali marveled at the film, sharing how despite meeting so many times, Suniel had never mentioned it to him. He called it 'class' and expressed his love and admiration for his 'anna.'

Also hailing the 'noble act' as a trade analyst and not knowing about it, Suniel's daughter Athiya Shetty also replied that she had not heard about it either.
