Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui eventually took legal action against his wife Aaliya who had given him a notice of divorce and had made several accusations against the actor in the media.
Siddiqui 's legal notice to wife claims that she was "committed to fraud, willful and intended defamation" and "character slander" The note also said on May 19 she was sent a reply to the divorce note within 15 days.
Talking to Indian Express, Nawazuddin 's attorney Adnan Shaikh said, "My client is still paying all EMIs. Payment information and screenshots are attached. Before the lockout, a large amount was sent to Aaliya to ensure that all the costs related to the children were taken care of. Her divorce notice was replied to well in time, but again she had claimed the opposite to defame Mr Siddiqui through this well-thought-out campaign of slander. We have also asked the actor's wife not to make defamatory remarks against him, and also to give a written explanation for what she said recently.
Speaking about Aaliya 's reaction to the divorce notice, he said, "Aalia had sent the divorce notice on May 6th, we had replied to that notification. Now, with whatever details we had to provide from documents, we did make our response. Now it's her turn to move forward. If we are legally hurted, we take action. Legally we got hurt because she defamed my client. Now if she doesn't comply with the number of days she has to go through, then we'll take another phase and we'll certainly report back.
